Marcel’s Beauty Institute delivers the highest quality of education with real world experience. Together we are a  leading new cosmetology school with over 150 years of experience.  Located in Rochester, NY. Our licensed program currently offers a career path in The Natural Hair Arena and coming spring of 2023 Cosmetology, Natural Hair ,Nails/Manicuring, Esthetician & Extension classes. MBI will educate on technical knowledge and theory in all types of hair. We give you the a hands-on experience in the areas of hair as well as business.

As the Executive director of Marcel’s Beauty Institute Dr. Perdita Meeks is fourth generation hair designer & Entrepreneurs. Her family’s history goes back to 1950 owning salons and specializing in hair extension/weaving an artistic designing.

Marcel’s Beauty Institute was birthed from the loins of Arelise Rose (my great grand mother)who attended cosmetology school in 1950.

She owned & operated her salon on Adams & Clarissa Street next to Anthony Jordan’s Doctors office. Arelise’s Beauty Shop moved and she purchased her first property located at Jefferson Ave & Tremont Street in the city of Rochester, NY. My Grandmother, Dorothy Clark went to cosmetology school in Buffalo, NY at Lillie & Dora Cosmetology School over 70 years ago.

My mother, Celestine Harley also attended Lillie & Dora Cosmetology school in 1960. She became manger & co-owner of Soul Scissors which was located in Henrietta NY 1977.

Celestine Harley expanded and opened Celestine's Hair Doctors in 1982 which was located in Goodman Plaza in Rochester, NY.

Her sister Takiyah Harley has been braiding since she was 13 years old, she has been licensed since1994. Takiyah worked with her mom at Celestines Hair Doctors and  eventully became the founder and owner of Kiyah's New Beginning Hair salon.
